About Lucy's School of Dance...

Focusing solely on StreetJazz, we like to think that there are numerous reasons why people choose Lucy’s School of Dance as we attempt to approach everything that we do in a professional yet relaxed manner. The result, we hope, is a safe, pressure free environment for students of all backgrounds and abilities to enjoy dance, keep fit, make friends and build confidence.

We have a number of students with varying  disabilities which we believe should not stand in the way of them enjoying dance and playing an active part in a demanding team activity.  

The safety and wellbeing of our students whilst under our supervision is of paramount importance to us and we operate a Child Protection Policy which is based on ERCAS, NSPCC and Child Protection in Sport  Unit (CPSU) guidelines.

Our ethos is very much based on continual development, not only in terms of dancing ability but socially as well (Read about our objectives here). Building social skills is key to building confidence which is needed in abundance when getting up on stage in front of hundreds of spectators during our shows. Many of our pupils come to their first lesson as a shy individual only too happy to join in from the back of the class.  However, it is not long before we have them making new friends and performing at the front of the class brimming with confidence. It is amazing how many parents realise the positive change in their children after a relatively short space of time which is something we are really quite proud of.

Through our shows we offer students the opportunity to cap off many months of hard work and preparation by providing them with a chance to show off their routines on the big stage in front of a large audience. We always try and improve this experience year on year and aim to provide all the trimmings to make occasions like this a memorable experience for all concerned. (click here to find out more).

We also offer IDTA qualifications in Street Dance to provide a little more challange and reward for those students wishing to take part.
