Our objectives...

Our unique approach ensures that our students benefit from more than just expert dance tuition.  This page explorers some of the broader services we offer.

At Lucy’s School of Dance, our ethos is based around the continual development of our students, not only in relation to their dancing ability but in life in general.  In addition to the health benefits an activity like dancing offers, we pay particular attention to the emotional development of our registered students. We believe that we can improve quality of life by helping to build and enhance character and confidence through a fun and enjoyable dance medium.  We are passionate about everything we do and are professional in all aspects of our service from the quality of tuition right down to the quality of our show programmes.

Our overriding objectives are as follows:

  • To provide first class tuition with qualified instructors only.

  • To provide real value for money and focus more on our students continuing development and their enjoyment of the services we offer rather than on financial reward.

  • To ensure the wellbeing of our students whilst under our supervision and protect them from harm through a detailed registration process which supports our thorough Child Protection Policy.

  • To afford students from all backgrounds, ages and physical abilities the opportunity to take part without compromise in all activities organised by us.

  • To pay particular attention to the social opportunities our activities provide.

  • To treat all students equally, and with respect and dignity.

  • To pay particular attention to the emotional development of our students.

  • To promote a friendly, fun and enjoyable atmosphere for our students.

  • To always put the welfare of our students first, before winning or achieving goals.

  • To build balanced relationships based on mutual trust which empowers students to share in the decision-making process.

  • To keep up to date with technical skills, qualifications and relevant insurance.

  • To provide safe and trusted venues within which to teach.

  • To be an excellent role model to our students.

  • To promote a team ethic amongst our students.

  • To give enthusiastic and constructive feedback rather than negative criticism.

  • To recognising the developmental needs and capacity of our students – avoiding excessive training or competition and not pushing them against their will.

  • To forge close links within the local community to help promote these objectives.

  • To help build and enhance the confidence and character of our students.

  • To provide students and their parents with an easy way of providing feedback to help us continually make improvements to all areas of our service and ensure standards remain high.

  • To instil a sense of pride in what we do amongst our students by (amongst other things) working for and supporting local and national charities.

  • To ensure good, clear, ongoing communication with students and where appropriate, parents and guardians, through multiple resources.

This list is by no ways exhaustive and we will continue to work hard to make constant improvements to the level of service we offer.  Many of our students and parents have highlighted the very things above as reasons for choosing Lucy’s School of Dance.

We believe that we are one of only a limited number of dance schools in the region with such a fully realised philosophy and commitment to our students broader development and well being, such a strong desire to get the local community involved and a real long-term pledge to help those less fortunate than ourselves through our numerous charity projects.
