At Lucy's School of Dance we take our responsibilities seriously.  When you attend your first session you will be given a registration form to complete should you wish to become a registered dancer with Lucy's School of Dance.  This registration form must be completed and returned to us before you will be able to take part in further activities organised by us.

Upon completion of the registration process you will be given your very own 'Dancer ID Card' containing your registration number.

The data we collect at the time of registration is used to enforce our Child Protection Policy which has been developed in conjunction with National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) guidelines.  It also ensures we retain up to date emergency contact details, helping us to further protect the safety and wellbeing of our students whilst under our supervision.

If you would like further information about our Child Protection Policy please contact Lucy on any of the numbers above.

ERCAS Accreditation...

There are a number of important issues for parents when choosing a dance school or sports club for their child to attend, such as:

  • Will my child be safe?

  • Will the coaches be qualified?

  • If my child is good, will they have the chance to become better?

Accredited clubs and dance schools can answer yes to all these questions! An accredited organisation is one who has worked towards a series of standards to prove that they can provide a safe, child friendly environment for young people.

There are a number of accreditation schemes for clubs to work towards, such as East Riding County Council’s own Club Accreditation Scheme (ERCAS) which is a quality standard for clubs.  Lucy’s School of Dance currently holds ERCAS Level 1 certification.

ERCAS is an accreditation scheme from the Sports Development Service which enables organisations such as ours to set and meet standards which will lead to better quality sport and dance provision for young people in the East Riding.  Its aims are to recognise the quality of services that organisations like ours offer and to improve the quality and safety of the dance schools infrastructure.

In order to achieve accreditation in line with ERCAS Lucy's School of Dance was required to demonstrate that we have the following policies and procedures in place within our organisation:

  • Qualified dance teachers/coaches

  • Criminal Records Bureau CRB) Disclosure checked coaches and volunteers

  • First Aid requirements

  • Health and Safety procedures

  • Child Protection policy and procedures

  • Skill and development progression

What are the benefits of ERCAS accreditation to Lucy’s School of Dance?

  • To highlight good practice within the dance school.

  • To improve the profile of the dance school in the local community.

  • To provide evidence to future pupils that the dance school has a child friendly, welcoming and safe environment.

  • Provision of training opportunities for dance school personnel, e.g. child protection, first aid, equity etc.

  • To be recognised by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council at the Annual Sport and Play Awards as an accredited club.

  • To be recognised within the Sports Development Services` Publications as an accredited club, eg. Website, SportsTalk, Junior Club Directories.

  • To highlight the future growth of the dance school.
