Shows are held approximately every 9 months offering our students an opportunity to showcase their talents performing routines mastered in the months leading up to the show.

These events are planned for months in advance to provide memories that will last forever.  Our usual show venue is Middleton Hall within the grounds of Hull University.  Middleton Hall provides an excellent venue with its large stage and impressive seating area with galleries on both sides of the auditorium.

Demand for show tickets is always high with each performance selling out quickly.  An aggregate of over 1000 spectators regularly attends our shows and help us to raise thousands of pounds for local and national charities.

The Showtime experience...
After an afternoon rehearsing, the huge cast gather backstage where there is a buzz of excitement mixed with a little nervous tension.  For many it may be the first time they have appeared on the stage, for others it another chance to shine in front of a sell-out audience.  45 minutes before the show is due to commence, the audience arrives in the auditorium and the atmosphere begins to build.  At the front of house, members of the show management team greet the incoming spectators, selling show programmes and raffle tickets in aid of charity.

The auditorium begins to fill quickly and the audience settle into the comfortable surroundings and watch the huge video wall displaying messages from the show sponsors and information about the event.

Meanwhile in the control centre, professional sound and lighting engineers prepare for their evenings work whilst the professional film company set up their cameras to capture the evenings entertainment for the official show DVD.

Somewhere backstage our compere is perfecting his lines whilst an army of helpers arrange costumes and work hard to contain the excitement of the eager cast members itching to take to the stage.

It is now 5 minutes before the show is due to commence, the stewards on the doors are taking the final few tickets and searching for spare seats for the late arriving spectators.  Shortly, the final checks are made with the management team backstage via the intercom and the green light is given.  The first group of dancers take their positions on the stage whilst the audience prepare for the show to begin as the lights in the auditorium begin to dim.

On comes the compere to welcome everyone to the event, moments later as he makes his way off the stage, the curtains pull open, the music begins and it's Showtime!

For the next two and a half hoursour dancers light up the stage in their glitzy costumes whilst the their families and friends proudly look on from the audience.  Each routine receives a rousing ovation from the huge crowd before the curtains close after each routine completes.

The half time interval arrives.  Whilst the cast gather themselves for the second half, the audience make their way to the refreshment kiosk looking forward to the remainder of the show.  As they all return to their seats the half time raffle begins raising thousands of pounds a chosen charity.  Soon after, the curtains are opened and all eyes are back on the stage.

Lucy's StreetJazz Dancers rip up stage once more and the audience begin to find their voice.  The second half seems to fly by and the final scheduled routine completes to a huge cheers.  The curtain draws once more, the spot lights burn brightly in anticipation of the finale.

The music begins as the curtains open up for the final time. Dancers from each group take to the stage to perform the finale as the audience shows their appreciation.  The whole theatre is upstanding. There are whistles, cheers and tears of pride as the dancers take their bow before moving to the rear of the stage.  Finally, the tiny 4-6 year old dancers are led on to the stage for their special moment before the whole cast step forward to wave to the crowd before the curtains close for the final time to cap a truly memorable evening.
