Summer Show 2009 - Sponsor forms...

Download further sponsorship forms here

We are back on the fundraising trail once again at our next show in July later this year. This time, our chosen charity is The Sudden Adult Death Trust in memory of Emma Wylie who died suddenly at home in August 2006 aged sixteen years.

She was on holiday between leaving South Hunsley School and starting a college course in Child Care. Emma had no symptoms and had not complained of feeling unwell. She kept herself very fit, walking to school every day and attending dance classes twice a week. She also helped out at a local ballet school every Saturday, where she loved looking after the little dancers. She had intended to continue with her dance studies up to teaching level and had dreams of starting her own school in the future. Music and dance were her passions but she also loved her friends and loved spending time with them. Emma loved her labrador, Oscar, who still waits at the window for her to return from school each evening. She was a typical teenager however, her Dad used to tell her that she could slam doors to Olympic standard! She hated spiders, cruelty of any kind and washing up!

_______________________________________________________________

In addition to our usual fundraising activities we are also supplying all of our dancers with a sponsorship form in the hope than many will obtain sponsorship for taking part in our Summer Show so that we can raise even more money for this fantastic cause.

Monies raised for SADS UK (Registered charity number: 1113681) will be donated to the Emma Wylie Memorial Fund run by her parents Sue and John. All monies raised by Lucy’s School of Dance will be invested locally within the Hull & East Riding area.

The hope is that we can raise sufficient funds to provide life saving monitoring equipment to allow early detection of potential heart problems which can be attributed to Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.

Having spoken with Emma’s parents and some of her friends who now attend Lucy’s School of Dance, this particular charity has become very close to our hearts and we will be working hard to ensure we do our very best to maximise this opportunity to raise funds which will help to save lives in the area we live in.

We would like to thank all of our students and their families for continuing to support our charity efforts.
